An easy way to get in some reading minutes for your kids is to listen to audio books. There are several sites that will provide these. You can google it or just check out your public library for free access to many books! They have books on cd and also some to download on-line. Many teachers will accept having a book read to your child as credible minutes because they are being exposed to rich vocabulary and literature. This is a good solution for slower readers as well. Just listen in the car and then ask them a few questions about what you've heard after you turn it off. Research has shown this is also a good way to boost comprehension.
